“Wenallt Star has engaged in a unique creative process and been rewarded with an entertaining, thought-provoking, tangible end product; an impressively original album that defies definition or pigeonholing. It's 21st century storytelling by way of the cut-up technique giving birth to fourteen strangely infectious spoken texts set to music, but, hey, you decide. ”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cardiff-born / Lincolnshire-based writer/musician David Lambert was attempting to finish his second novel about a mixed-race, polyamorous relationship in a 1950's, post-war Cardiff. With 200,000 words written David found himself in need of a rest, some reflective time. He laid the novel to one side and entered into a period of research reading fourteen novels in fourteen weeks all addressing the themes and issues his unfinished novel was exploring – family, loss, racism, memory, deceit, bisexuality, desire, identity, love.
David added, ‘The fourteen novels are diverse and cinematic. Each of the album’s 14 compositions, from Nella Larsens’s 1920s Harlem Renaissance novel ‘Passing’ with its laid-back, hippy vibe, to Dodie Smith’s classic novel ‘I Capture The Castle’s ‘punk’ soundtrack, to Nadifa Mohammed’s heart-breaking tale based on a true story, The Fortune Men with its Tiger Bay backdrop and nine minute, electronic trance piece, to Quartet in Autumn by Barbara Pym with its 1980s Human League-type production, all 14 tracks in some way tell part of the tale of my own novel. The album’s common denominator, my spoken texts within the fourteen very different musical styles and genres.’
